Death of 1-year-old boy in hot car investigated as "questionable", Baltimore police say
City police said officers were called around 1:40 p.m. to the 6200 block of Greenspring Avenue for a report of an unconscious child.
Police said paramedics tried to save the boy's life, but he died at the scene.
The medical examiner is working to determine an official cause of death.
Investigators have determined the death as questionable. Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that the boy was left in the vehicle before his parent discovered him.
The temperature hit in the upper 90s on Thursday, prompting the Baltimore City Health Department to issue a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert.
According to the Maryland Department of Health, paramedics responded to 1,042 heat-related calls so far this year. The MDH heat data dashboard indicates 19 people have died from heat-related causes.
