7-month-old boy dies after being discovered unconscious in car in Middle Tenn.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 7-month-old boy has died after authorities found the infant unresponsive in a vehicle outside the Monterey Public Library in Putnam County, Tennessee, on Wednesday.

The Monterey Police Department reported that multiple agencies — including Monterey Fire, Putnam County EMS, the Putnam County Rescue Squad and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office — responded to a dispatch call about an unconscious child at around 3:58 p.m. on Wednesday.

Despite efforts to revive the infant, the Putnam County District Attorney told News 2 he later died.

It is unclear how long the child was in the vehicle before personnel arrived, the DA added, and he is expected to be autopsied on Thursday. Both the Monterey PD and the PCSO are investigating the incident, but as of publication, it’s unclear if any criminal charges will be filed in connection with the case.

No further details were immediately released.
