Woman charged with homicide by child abuse after infant found in vehicle in Kingstree

A woman has been arrested and charged after a baby was found unresponsive in a vehicle , according to the Kingstree Police Department.

Armina Lavette Seal-Middleton, age 52, of Salters was charged with homicide by child abuse.

The report from police states that on Aug. 25, officers responded to a Dollar General, located in the Kingstree area of Williamsburg County, to assist EMS in reference to a call of an unresponsive infant. The infant was reportedly found inside a vehicle that was not running.

According to the report the infant was transported to a medical facility for treatment but was later pronounced deceased.

Investigation revealed that the baby was in the care of Seal-Middleton at the time of the incident. She was arrested by Kingstree Police Department and transported to Williamsburg County Detention Center.

Kingstree Police Department and South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Child Fatality Unit is assisting the Coroner’s Office with the investigation.

An investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
