Coroner: Hartsville toddler dies after being left
in car
A Hartsville father is charged in the death of his
13-month-old daughter who police say was left in a car outside his workplace for
several hours on Thursday.
Hartsville Police Chief James
Hudson says David Richard Gray, 30, of Hartsville is charged with Unlawful
Conduct Toward a Child.
Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee says the toddler
was found about 5 p.m. in a car parked outside a Hartsville business where the
father works.
Sources tell us someone saw her in the car at Carolina
Printing in Hartsville and called 9-1-1.
Police say father says he
forgot his little girl was inside the car.
The details surrounding this
case are currently under investigation.
Coroner Hardee has asked for
the assistance of the SLED child death division and the assistance of the
Hartsville City Police Department.
He says an autopsy will be
performed on Friday.
Gray is being held in the Darlington County Detention
Center.
He will have a bond hearing Friday at 4:30pm.
