Infant dies after being left in car at Marshall
Space Flight Center
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Marshall Space Flight Center officials confirm a
7-month-old was found dead in a parking lot on-site Wednesday afternoon.
Officials at Redstone Arsenal were notified of a
medical emergency at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center shortly after 4:30 p.m.
Fire and medical personnel found that a 7-month-old child had died after being
left in a parked vehicle during the work day.
The death is currently under investigation.
Early reports indicate that the parent intended to
drop the child off at the childcare center and instead went straight to work.
Names are being withheld out of respect for the family
and pending all appropriate family notifications.
"This is a tragic situation and our heartfelt thoughts
and prayers go out to family members of those involved," MSFC officials said in
a statement.
