Baby found dead inside vehicle
GERONIMO, OK (KSWO) - Tragedy in Geronimo Tuesday
night after a baby was found dead inside a hot vehicle.
The discovery was made in the Dollar General parking
lot around 5:30 Tuesday evening where Geronimo police and first responders were
called out to a baby who was found unconscious and not breathing. Medics arrived
and confirmed the baby was dead. OSBI is now investigating the infant's death.
Investigators were still on the scene as of 8 p.m.,
collecting evidence.
Cardboard was still covering the scene, and officials
say behind it was the baby. Yellow crime tape also marked off much of the
parking lot.
Geronimo Police Chief David Johnston was one of the
first responders on scene. And while he couldn't tell us much, including the
child's identity, he did say this was the type of call every officer dreads.
"It's tough, it's a tough deal," said Chief Johnston.
Johnston says an official cause of death has not been
determined. He says they won't know anything until OSBI releases the details of
their investigation.
