Infant death reported here
Mt. Pleasant, IA
August 19, 2005
An infant was found dead in a vehicle yesterday
afternoon at 300 S. Van Buren Street, according to a report from the Mt.
Pleasant Police Department. Police were summoned to the scene at 2:35 p.m.
No other details were released pending an autopsy, said Police Chief Terry
Sammons. He didn't expect any information to be released until next week.
Dr. Kent Metcalf, Henry County medical examiner, told the MP News at press time
that nothing conclusive could be stated. However, he said it appeared the infant
had been in the car all day, died of apparent heat stroke, the result of an
apparent accident.
The autopsy report report generally takes a week to be returned, he said. Mt.
Pleasant Police declined identifying the family at press time.
