Baby dies after
being left in hot car, says BRPD
BATON ROUGE, LA
An 8-month-old girl has died after reportedly being
left in a hot car for a long period of time, according to Baton Rouge Police.
East Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services spokesman
Mike Chustz says an ambulance crew was called to Baton Rouge General Hospital's
Mid-City campus around noon Wednesday, for reports that an unresponsive baby was
brought in to the facility, which does not have an emergency room.
When the ambulance arrived, the baby was apparently
already dead, and the crew reached out to the Coroner's Office. We're told that
the EMS crew transported the baby to another location, but it is not yet clear
whether that other location was an emergency department, or the Coroner's
Office.
Baton Rouge Police tell us they sent officers to a
local hospital after the baby was brought there.
