Authorities say an infant died after being
forgotten in a car seat on Tuesday for several hours in Angelina County.
ANGELINA COUNTY (KYTX) -
Crews responded to the
incident just before 5:00 p.m to a parking lot of the Lufkin State Supported
Living Center on 69 North regarding a young child who had been forgotten in a
car seat earlier in the day, according to the Angelina County Sheriff's Office.
The child, a girl less than
one year old, was transported by ambulance to Woodland Heights Hospital in
Lufkin where she was pronounced dead by Judge Ball, Justice of the Peace -
Precinct One.
The grandmother of the child told authorities she
forgot the baby was left in the car when she went into work at the living
center, according to Sheriff Greg Sanches.
The investigation by Angelina
County Sheriff’s Office detectives is continuing and an autopsy has been
ordered. It appeared the child had been left in the vehicle for several hours.
