after being left in van at Westside daycare
A child has died after being left in a van at a Westside daycare, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The 5-month old girl was found Wednesday afternoon after her mother found her in a daycare van at Ewing’s Love & Hope Preschool and Academy, according to a daycare worker.
The daycare is located near the 5800 block of Lenox Avenue.
An employee said that a mother called into the daycare to check on the status of her child when the employee said that she didn’t know the child was in today and that she hadn’t seen her.
The mother then rushed to the daycare center and found her child in a daycare van, the daycare worker said.
When asked how long the child was in the car, the employee said she didn’t know. When asked when was the last time the vehicle was driven, she said about five hours.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the child died at 2:53 p.m.
