Statement from the Palm Bay City Police Department
11 month old baby left in car
– Arrest made
PALM BAY, FLORIDA - On May
28th, 2023, at approximately 1 pm, Palm Bay Police officers with
Palm Bay Fire Rescue responded to a call for an unresponsive
11-month-old infant in a vehicle at 6165 Babcock St. (Mount of
Olives Evangelical Church). When they arrived, they learned the
infant had been left in the vehicle by their mother, Bulaine
Molme (DOB 10/3/85), for approximately three hours while she and
her family attended services. The infant was transported to Palm
Bay Community Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
The initial investigation revealed that the mother
arrived late to a church service she was officiating and
believed the victim was brought inside by a member of the
church. Approximately three hours later, after service
concluded, the mother noticed her child was not inside or with
any church member and immediately responded to her vehicle where
her child was found still in the car seat and unresponsive.
9-1-1 was called and CPR was started until officers and rescue
personnel arrived on scene.
At the completion of the
investigation and working with the State Attorney’s Office, the
mother was placed under arrest on June 1, 2023, and is being
charged with one count of Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child.
