TAMPA — A toddler girl died Monday after she was left inside
a family car, police say.
The parents of an 18-month-old girl called
911 when they discovered their daughter unconscious inside their Jeep on N
19th Street. Tampa Police and Tampa Fire Rescue responded to the scene at
about 6:24 p.m. and found the girl wasn’t breathing. The child was rushed to
an area hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries and later
pronounced dead.
Police say the investigation is in the early stages,
but it appears the child was accidentally left inside the car Monday
morning. No further information was available at this time.
“Any time there’s a loss of a child, it’s just a very tragic event no
matter if it’s by natural means or by accident or by some other means,” he
said.
