4-year-old boy dies after being found in hot car in Orange County

A 4-year-old boy died Friday after he was left in a hot car on Oak Ridge Road near Orange Blossom Trail, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

A bystander saw the boy alone in a locked car with the engine turned off about 2:30 p.m. The bystander took the boy to a fire station across the street. Firefighters then took the boy to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, where he was pronounced dead.

Temperatures were in the 90s on Friday.

The car was in the parking lot of Elite Preparatory Academy.

No other details were immediately available.

This was the first of two hot-car deaths in Central Florida in a matter of hours. In another incident later Friday afternoon, a baby was found dead in a car outside a Sanford gas station.
