3-year-old dies
after found unresponsive in hot car
Frankfort Police
and Franklin County Coroner Will Harrod are investigating the death of a
3-year-old boy who was found unresponsive and locked inside a hot vehicle
last week.
Calvin Hedges, the son of Tonie Columbia and Edward B.
Hedges, was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m. Friday after being transported to
Frankfort Regional Medical Center from a residence at 317 Strathmore Drive.
“We are talking with multiple sources and ascertaining information on
what took place,” Harrod said.
A cause of death has not been
released. According to Harrod, an autopsy was performed Saturday, but
results will take 12-14 weeks.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with
family,” the Franklin County Health Department posted on its Facebook page.
“When this hits so close to home, we want to help remind all those with pets
and children to always leave something like a shoe or cell phone in the back
(of the vehicle) to make sure everyone gets out safe.”
