UPDATE: WHITLEY COUNTY TODDLER DIED FROM HEAT

Kentucky State Police say a toddler found unresponsive in a car Thursday died of hyperthermia.

State Police also say foul play is not suspected and believe 2-year-old Aubrey Rose climbed into the car on her own.

Aubrey Rose’s uncle set up a GoFundMe page for her parents.

On the page, Steve Antrim says his brother laid down for a nap while Aubrey was asleep and, instead of waking him like she usually does, the child left the home and got into the car.

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of a toddler in Whitley County.

State Police say the Whitley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Leona Wyatt Road Thursday around 2:04 p.m. after a two-year-old child was reported missing on Thursday.

They say deputies found the child, Aubrey Rose, unresponsive around 2:32 p.m. The toddler was found inside a car at the house. State Police believe she got into the car by herself.

Rose was taken to Baptist Health Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

State Police say her body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, scheduled for Friday. Investigators hope the autopsy will determine how and why the child died, as the investigation continues.
