LPSO investigating death of two-year-old

Deputies with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of a young child.

The body of a two-year-old child was found in a vehicle on Andres Road off Cameron Street, a spokesman confirmed.

"The sheriff's office received a call just before 2 pm today and we responded to the 6900 block of cameron st in response to a deceased two year old that was in a vehicle here at this location," said sheriff's spokeswoman Valerie Ponseti Brinkley.

No other details were available; deputies are investigating the child's death, the spokesman said.

Coroner: 2-year-old found in car died of heatstroke

The two-year-old boy found in a car on Sunday in Lafayette Parish died of heatstroke, the Lafayette Parish Coroner reports.

That manner of death comes from a coroner's preliminary report on the death of Ryatt Hensley. 27-year-old Natalie Broussard, Hensley's mother, was booked with Negligent homicide in the case.

Sheriff's Deputies were called out to the 6900 block of Cameron Street in Duson at approximately 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2020.

Deputies say there are no further details at this time as this case remains under investigation.

“Any time there’s a loss of a child, it’s just a very tragic event no matter if it’s by natural means or by accident or by some other means,” he said.
