The Bay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Canal Avenue in Panama City in reference to a medical call involving an infant.

Deputies arrived and discovered a newborn had been left in a vehicle for possibly several hours. The deputy began CPR and EMS arrived within minutes. The infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

BCSO Criminal Investigations is conducting a death investigation and speaking to witnesses to establish a time line of events.

Infant found dead in vehicle in Panama City

PANAMA CITY — Bay County Sheriff’s deputies found an infant dead after it had been possibly left in a vehicle for several hours in Panama City on Wednesday.

According to a Bay County Sheriff’s Office press release, deputies responded to a residence on Canal Avenue in reference to a medical call involving an infant.

When deputies arrived, they discovered a newborn that had possibly been left in a vehicle for several hours. A deputy began CPR and EMS arrived within minutes.

However, the infant was soon pronounced dead at the scene.

BCSO Criminal Investigations is conducting a death investigation and speaking to witnesses to establish a timeline of events.

“Any time there’s a loss of a child, it’s just a very tragic event no matter if it’s by natural means or by accident or by some other means,” he said.
