3-year-old girl dies after being left in hot car for several hours, Edmond police say

EDMOND, Okla. — A 3-year-old girl died Monday after Edmond police officials said she was left in a hot car for several hours.

Police told KOCO 5 that the 3-year-old was left in the car for four to six hours in the 300 block of West Hurd Street, near West Edmond Road and Fretz Avenue. The child was taken to Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City in critical condition.

Police officials later said the 3-year-old child died.

Edmond Police Department officials said they are still investigating and will release more information in the coming days.

“Any time there’s a loss of a child, it’s just a very tragic event no matter if it’s by natural means or by accident or by some other means,” he said.
