Baby girl dies after being left unattended in vehicle,
Chesapeake police say
CHESAPEAKE — A baby
girl died Tuesday after she was left alone in an unoccupied
vehicle for several hours, according to the Chesapeake Police
Department.
Officers responded to the report of an
unattended child in a vehicle at 12:38 p.m. in the 900 block of
Adventure Way.
First responders rendered aid and took the
8-month-old girl to a local hospital where she was pronounced
dead, police said in a news release.
The National Weather
Service issued a heat advisory through 8 p.m. Tuesday for all of
Hampton Roads. Temperatures were in the high 90s and heat index
values reached near 110 degrees.
Police said the incident
is under investigation and did not announce any charges Tuesday
afternoon.

“Any time there’s a loss of a child, it’s just a very tragic event no
matter if it’s by natural means or by accident or by some other means,” he
said.
