Child left in car
dies, likely due to heat says Greenville Co. Coroner
GREENVILLE CO., SC (WSPA) - A one and a half year-old baby died after he was
left in a car outside a Greenville County home on May 31.
The
Greenville County Coroner's Office says Joe Avery James Lockaby was visiting
his grandmother's house on Rogers Avenue when he was left in a car parked in
the driveway.
The coroner says his grandmother found him unresponsive
when she took him out of the vehicle.
EMS and the fire department
responded but the child was pronounced dead around 5:00 p.m. on May 31.
Results from an autopsy performed June 1 are still pending but the
coroner says the cause is "most likely going to be due to heat."
The
Greenville County Sheriff's Office and the coroner's office are
investigating.
Lockaby's family has set a GoFundme page to raise
money for funeral expenses.
