Infant dead after
being left in car in North Charleston
NORTH
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — An infant is dead after being left in a car in
North Charleston.
Authorities responded to Roper West Ashley just
before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3 in reference to an infant child being
deceased.
The father of the infant informed Charleston Police that
he was supposed to drop his child off at daycare but he forgot to do so.
North Charleston Police officers at Roper St. Francis Hospital met with
the father and mother of the infant.
The father told NCPD officers
that he was supposed to drop the child off at daycare on Tuesday morning
when he left his James Island home and then proceed to work. Tuesday evening
his wife arrived at the daycare and was told that the child was not there.
The wife immediately called her husband and that’s when he checked his
vehicle and discovered the infant was still in the vehicle and unresponsive.
The father drove the infant to the hospital where he was pronounced
dead.
The Charleston County Coroner’s office is investigating the
manner and cause of death. North Charleston Police are also investigating.
The incident happened in North Charleston.
Infant who died after being left in car

The North
Charleston Police Department is investigating after an infant died after
being left in a car all day.
The child was identified as
10-month-old Jack Duggan.
Investigators say a father forgot the
infant was in his car when he went to work and left the child in the vehicle
until he was notified later that day that the child was not at daycare.
The incident began shortly before 6 p.m. on Tuesday when NCPD officers
responded to Roper West Ashley for a deceased infant.
Charleston
police officers were on scene and told investigators that the incident took
place in North Charleston.
According to Charleston police officers,
the father of the infant told them that he was supposed to drop his child
off at daycare but he forgot to do so.
The father said that he was at
work the entire day and realized once he got off that he had left the child
in the car, a report states.
CPD officials said the father
transported the child to Roper West Ashley where the infant was pronounced
deceased.
NCPD officers then met with the father and mother of the
deceased infant.
The father told them that he was supposed to drop
the child off at daycare on Tuesday morning when he left his James Island
home and then go to work.
On Tuesday evening, his wife arrived at
the daycare facility and was told that the child was not there, a report
states.
"The wife immediately made contact with her husband and
that’s when he checked his vehicle and discovered the infant was still in
the vehicle and unresponsive," NCPD officials said.
The father drove
the infant to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased, police said.
"The coroner’s office is investigating the manner and cause of death
while NCPD continues to conduct its investigation," NCPD officials said
